President's message

Welcome to the American Judges Association website. My name is Tom Alevizos, a senior judge from Indiana, and I am honored to be the president of AJA for the 2025-2026 year.

I'm excited that you're visiting our website. If you are a new member or just checking out our site, please take your time and explore all the wonderful things AJA provides to its members.

As you may know, AJA is one of the largest and most diverse judges' associations in North America. Our members hail from the United States and its territories, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, and Canada. In addition, we also maintain a special relationship with the judges of the Philippines.

The American Judges Association aims to build a more informed judiciary through exceptional educational conferences, access to judicial resources, opportunities for training in specialized areas of interest, and international judicial engagement.

Our judges-only membership allows us to be an independent voice of the judiciary.

Our conferences, committee work, and webinars have led to great collaboration and collegiality among judges throughout our continent and beyond! 

In addition to our educational conferences, AJA's committees inform its members on topics like judicial security, wellness, diversity, and ethics. Membership also includes the quarterly publication known as Court Review, featuring  articles on current jurisprudence, developments in science and social science, and other information of interest to judges. 

Through our affiliation with the National Center for States Courts, we liaise with, among others, the National Association of State Judicial Educators, the Conference of Chief Justices, the Conference of State Court Administrators, the National Association for Court Management, and the National Judicial College.
